Thursday, August 8, 2013 Sponsored by: Topic: SDWCA Carlsbad Desalination Project The reverse-osmosis desalination facility in Carlsbad will make San Diego County’s water supplies more reliable by reducing the region’s dependence on water from the Colorado River and the Bay-Delta that is vulnerable to droughts, natural disasters and regulatory restrictions. A new 10-mile pipeline will connect the plant to the Water Authority’s aqueduct in San Marcos. Speaker: Frank Belock, Jr - San Diego County Water Authority Frank Belock, Jr., Deputy General Manager, joined the SDCWA in August 2007. Before joining the Water Authority, Mr. Belock was with the City of San Diego for 26 years where his service included Water Department Director and Director of Engineering and Capital Projects and then employed by the Parsons Corporation as Area Manager. Mr. Belock is a registered CA registered professional civil engineer and was an APWA Top Ten Recipient in 1999.
