OVERVIEW OF 2015-2019 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Iraj Ghaemi - Director of Facilities Development Department of SDCRAA

BIO: 
Mr. Ghaemi has over 32 years of diversified professional experience of which the last 22 years have been in leadership and management positions for transportation programs in the public and private sectors.

Currently, Mr. Ghaemi is the Director of the Facilities Development Department (FDD) for the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (SDCRAA). In this capacity he is responsible for the multimillion dollar capital improvement program for SDCRAA. Prior to this position, he was the Deputy Director of FDD for 3 years, and Assistant Director of Engineering-Airport for the San Diego Unified Port District for over 6 years.

Before joining the Port of San Diego, he was the Regional Manager for a multi-discipline international engineering consulting firm. Mr. Ghaemi has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University. He is a registered Civil Engineer in the states of California and Arizona. He is married and has two sons.

AGENCY SPOTLIGHT:  San Diego Port Authority, Charlene Dennis

BIO:  Charlene is an Engineering Manager with the Port of San Diego, where she currently oversees the Port’s two major capital programs.

Besides managing the CIP and Major Maintenance programs, she has managed several complex projects including: 1) the Broadway Port Pavilion, the 52,000 square foot facility located on Broadway Pier; and 2) the Teledyne Ryan Site demolition project, involving demolition and hazardous material removal on a site adjacent to the Airport.

Before she joined the Port, she was a Principal Project Manager with Parsons Corporation, where her assignments included serving as Deputy Program Manager for the City of San Diego’s $1 Billion Water Department CIP.

Charlene holds a masters degree from UC Berkeley and an MBA.

She is a native of Chicago who has made San Diego her home, where she and her husband have raised two sons.
