Presentation:  “The Global Warming Scam is Wrecking America.”  In the fall of 2007, Mr. Coleman described the current concern over global warming “a fictional, manufactured crisis, and a total scam.”  In 2008, Mr. Coleman gave a speech of the same tone before the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, blaming the “global warming scam” and environmentalist lobby for raising gas and food prices.  He also declared the scam “a threat to our economy and our civilization.”  His posting assessing the science behind global warming can be read at www.kusi.com. 

About the Speaker:  John Coleman is currently a weathercaster seen on the 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts on KUSI TV in San Diego.  In 1980 through 1983 he founded The Weather Channel, the 24 hour weather cable service.  Mr. Coleman started his career at WCIA TV in Champaign, Illinois, doing the early evening weathercast and a local bandstand show called At the Hop while he was a student at the University of Illinois.  After receiving his degree in 1957, he became the weather anchor for the following stations:  WMBD TV in Peoria, Illinois, KETV in Omaha, WISN TV in Milwaukee, and WBBM-TV and WLS-TV in Chicago.  While in Chicago, John Coleman was one of Chicago’s most popular weathercasters, famous for his amusing and irreverent style.  Mr. Coleman became the original weathercaster on the ABC network morning program Good Morning America where he spent seven years.  John was also weather anchor at WCBS TV in New York and then at WMAQ TV in Chicago before moving to Southern California to join the KUSI-TV team in San Diego in 1994.  Mr. Coleman fondly calls his role at KUSI, “his retirement job.”
