Join us as we present Mr. Darren Greenhalgh, Deputy Director of Public Works, to discuss the San Diego Convention Center and it's future expansion.  Also, Rick Hopkins, Director of Public Works for the City of Chula Vista.

Speaker: Darren Greenhalgh, Deputy Director/Public Works Department
Darren Greenhalgh graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and a Masters of Business Administration, from SDSU. He also possesses an Associate degree in Surveying, and is a member of Cuyamaca College’s surveying academic advisory committee and a new Director for APWA’s San Diego Chapter. His 29 years of experience includes working for the City of San Diego in seven different Divisions within three separate Departments. He has worked with high performing teams on public works facilities including treatment plants, buildings, public roads, water mains, sewer mains and landfill development and operations. He managed the New Central Library which is now complete, and is now overseeing the Convention Center Expansion. As Deputy Director in the City of San Diego’s Public Works Department for both the Architectural Engineering and Parks Division and the Project Implementation Division he has managed multimillion dollar operating budgets and Capital Improvement programs and overseen process improvements.

Agency Spotlight - Rick Hopkins, Director of Public Works for the City of Chula Vista
Mr. Hopkins is a Chi Epsilon graduate of San Diego State University College of Engineering where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with a minor in Geology. He holds a California license as a Civil Engineer since 1986 and is also a PADI certified Scuba Diver since 1975. Mr. Hopkins first joined the City of Chula Vista in 2006 as the Assistant Director of Public Works after 22 years with the State of California, Department of Transportation, Caltrans, District 11. Mr. Hopkins held a number of varied engineering positions at the District, which encompasses San Diego and Imperial Counties, including Deputy District Director over the Design and Construction Divisions. These divisions were responsible for design and construction of over $1 billion of highway infrastructure during this time.
