Topic: CAMOUT: Engineering a Mock Desert City for a Very Real War
The Combined Arms Military Operations in Urban Terrain (CAMOUT) project in Twentynine Palms is a mock city, poised to become the world’s largest military training facility of its kind, will ultimately boast 1,500 structures on the 300-acre site. Designed to prepare America’s warriors for the tactical, physical, emotional and cultural challenges of 21st-century urban warfare in third-world settings, the facility’s realistic physical environment closely mimics that of Iraq and Afghanistan.
